Unfiltered 2023: From 90s Cool to Today's Bonkers Reality

Romans 10:12 ERV

It says this because there is no difference between those who are Jews and those who are not. The same Lord is the Lord of all people. And he richly blesses everyone who looks to him for help.

It's a chill Saturday afternoon, around 4:43 pm, and I'm multitasking - watching the Netflix movie "Rustin" while sorting through my clothes. The film is all about Bayard Rustin, a gay activist shaking up the civil rights scene in 1963 America. I'm a sucker for civil rights movies, but this one's a unique take. I'm halfway through and couldn't help but wonder, what are the thoughts of kids white and black growing up in the civil rights era and watching the world?

From my experience, hanging out with folks of all shades, I sense a mix of emotions. Some white peeps seem kind of guilty, and some black folks carry a bit of bitterness. I might be off, but hey, born in '85, rolling into 2023, I've seen a bit. The 90s were the coolest era, but things have gone a bit bonkers lately. Blame it on the internet - everyone's got an opinion, and that's cool, right? That's Free speech.

My take? News outlets fuel the racism fire on racism in the 90's. Racism is a personal choice, can't change that, but here's the thing - I'm a black woman from South Florida. Yeah, there are racists out there, but if they're respectfully hating me in their head, we're good. My gripe? Let's talk solutions, not just problems. Nowadays, it feels like parents are feeding kids a skewed view, and that isn't helping anyone.

America's more diverse and blessed, and some countries lack clean water or even shoes. People risk their lives to get here every day, and we have people dissing the flag seems very disrespectful to me, considering families sacrificed people to fight wars.

things won't ever be perfect, and I get the fight for fair rights. But hate for hate? That's a losing game, especially with our not-so-great education system and a small population. It's sad our kids listen to music about drugs and self-harm. This is just my take on what I see and hear.

The Bible says, "Train a child in the way they should go." honestly, it feels like the blind leading the blind, with prison pastors preaching hate. So, here's my spill - let's focus on solutions, not reverse racism. Peace!

John 7:24 ERV

Stop judging by the way things look. Be fair and judge by what is really right.”
